CLONE REQUESTS

Clones created by the Washington University Genome Sequencing Center Parasitic Nematode Sequencing Project are available for distribution to interested scientists.

Please email your clone request to Makedonka Dautova Mitreva (mmitreva@watson.wustl.edu) and Irina Ronko (ironko@watson.wustl.edu). Your request should include the following information:

Your name, title, institution, email, phone, and mailing address. The clone's EST name, Genbank Gi #, species and library name.

We accept requests from academic/foundation, government, and company labs.

See sample invoice ...

Because clone distribution is not included as a part of our grant support, we asked that you pay for the cost of material distribution. Charges are $15 per clone or $35 per 384 well plate plus the cost of shipping (which can be charged directly to your institution's fed ex account).

Clones are usually sent as bacterial stabs within a few weeks of request (as Claire's schedule permits). Supply of 384 well plates is limited and these must be sent on dry ice, so additional time & coordination is necessary.

The Genome Sequencing Center does not use a material transfer agreement but we do provide a letter regarding terms of clone use that is shipped with the clones. By accepting shipment, the receiver is agreeing in good faith to the terms of this letter.

See sample letter ...

(This is a similar approach to that used by the IMAGE consortium, http://image.llnl.gov/image/.)

Groups publishing results derived from use of GSC clones must reference the project (McCarter, J., D. Bird, S. Clifton, and R. Waterston. "Nematode Gene Sequences, Update for December 2000," Journal of Nematology, 32(4):331-333) and include an acknowledgment for clone provision.

We intend to continue providing clones at least through the end of 2003 (the term of our NSF grant). Following completion of project grant support, clone distribution will be contracted through a commercial provider.
